Season 3 – One To Forget!

Welcome, season 3 has been and gone and what a dreadful season we had, Boca fail to win the league and we fail to get anywhere near the top. What happened then? Let’s find out.

Blog League Table BAR

The League have a new champion and congratulations to Newell’s, a very unlikely triumph but one well deserved. We finished 7th really poor and it was hard to watch some of the games, the new tactic worked treat in the early stages as you seen in the last article.

The option I took of not adding to my starting 11 was very poor but in my defence, the star players just didn’t perform like they have the last 2 years. Vera our main striker only managed 6 goals all season that’s under half of what he achieved last season. A new striker is a top target for Season 4. We had a bad season I believe but we have a new chairman and he offered me a new 3-year deal that I accepted. I thought some rumours of the board or fans may want me out may come out but nothing did, everyone seemed happy with a 7th place finish, we were predicted 6th I believe. I keep thinking after 2 amazing seasons I need to stay realistic.

Boca finally slipped up and had a bad year finishing second in the league, a bad season for them. We played and drew 1-1 but should have won by 3 or 4 goals, the narrow pitch and the new tactic worked just as I suggested it would. The only problem is the new tactic wasn’t like that with other teams in the league, a rethink tactic for next season must be thought about.

Blog Player Profile BAR

There is only 2 player’s that really stood out for me this year but they wasn’t as good as past years which showed is our league position, we rely on 1/2 players too much in this team.

 Lucas Robertone –

A name you see at every end of season awards for me my best player, I really rate this young lad. Lucas keeps performing and when we are in a bad game and it’s not going well I always look to him to make something happen, I just know he is good enough to flip a game right round in our favour.

Games – 19

Goals –  3

Assists –  5

Average Rating – 7.20

His lowest goals and assist tally under my reign but still good solid performances all year round and the 1st name on my team sheet every week. His talent still hasn’t gone unrecognized with Torino and Fiorentina rumoured to be interested in his signature.

Nicolas Dominguez –

The partner in the centre of midfield to Robertone is Dominguez, another youngster with huge talent who is always consistent each season that passes. This season like Robertone he has had his worse season by numbers.

Games – 18

Goals – 5

Assists – 5

Average Rating – 7.21

He was our best player this season and his stats are very good this season but I have seen him perform better. I was very happy overall with the 2 midfield lads but again teams like Brighton are after him and it’s turning his head.

I wouldn’t say anyone else really really impressed me and deserve a mention like these two, let’s hope next years I have more of my squad to show off.

Blog Transfer BAR

The worst season in the window by a country mile I judged it all wrong, as you seen in my last post I added squad depth only in preseason. The mistake of going a whole year with not adding more quality to the starting 11 is why we finished in 7th place and didn’t challenge for the title.

The second mistake was in the winter break transfer window I didn’t add to my squad in any shape or form, we also didn’t lose anyone.  We went into the winter window in 5th position on a very poor form, I should have added a striker on loan in as Vera was playing awful and Nathan when given a chance, was even worse.

I learnt a valuable lesson about transfers this time around and I won’t let it slide so poorly again on my behalf.

We managed to qualify for the knockout stages in the competition but we made hard work of what should have been a straight forward group. We need to seriously improve if we want to make it a step further than we did last season but I don’t hold much hope. We drew Botafogo in the next stage.

Overall the season in my eyes was a failure, poor squad management along with my top players underperforming. The save from day one has gone really well now I go into this season with some pressure on my shoulders, let’s see how I can handle it. Season 4 will bring changes all over the board in hope for a major improvement. The fans and board seem happy still but another finish out the top 4 may cause some problems. The league has finally hit 20 teams so we will be playing teams twice, 38 games means we may need a bigger squad.
